Overseer Eddie Robert Driver, Sr., came from Memphis, Tennessee to Los Angeles, California in the year of 1913.
After arriving, Driver found a small group of saints worshipping in a tent. They later moved to 15th and Santa Fe
Avenue. The church name was Saints Home Church of God in Christ. During the first ten years of Overseer Driver's
leadership, over 35 churches sprang up and were organized all over the state.

Overseer Driver never turned anyone away who was interested in the Word of God. His church served as the
"Melting Pot" for all those in the surrounding community. The Lord continued to bless the saints on several
occasions, special police and extra streetcars were needed to accommodate the great multitude of people who
attended church each Sunday.

Bishop Driver was truly a pioneer in the Church of God In Christ. He was one of the contributors who drafted the
Doctrinal Statement of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. He served as Chairman of the General Council in Memphis,
Tennessee, and he also served as an Associate Editor for the The Whole Truth newspaper.
